|Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 29, 2011 - Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation today announced its first quarter financial results. First quarter revenue was NT$3,991 million, generating after tax net income around NT$397 million, and EPS of NT$0.24.
Compared with the previous quarter, first quarter revenue increased by 17% to NT$3,991 million, from NT$3,403 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. On a year-over-year comparison, revenue for the first quarter increased around 12%. Wafer shipment for the first quarter reached 298,000 wafers, representing around 23% increase from 243,000 wafers from the previous quarter. Gross margin increased from around 12% to around 18% compared with previous quarter.
For the second quarter of 2011, VIS spokesperson Mr. Robert Hsieh said, ˇ§As the second quarter outlook is complicated by Japan's earthquake and shown by fears for possible supply chain disruption, we expect wafer shipment to decrease by a low single digit percentage QoQ. Fab utilization rate to be around eighty percentage. Gross profit margin to be high teens percentage. The blended ASP to be about flat QoQ.ˇ¨
